To have woken dds VERY LOUDLY at 6.20am

  • Because they were thumping around until after midnight when I'd gone to bed exhausted at 10.30pm last night.

They're 16 and 12 btw. DD1 was banging around in her room (next to ours), then came into our bedroom (before I locked the door) to put something non-essential into a cupboard in our room.

Before that, Dd2 had barged in wanting to use our ensuite (when there's another bathroom which is 'theirs' ) and demanding hair conditioner...this was at 10.45pm when I'd already announced I'd gone to bed.

So I woke up at 6.20am, put on my School Reunion CD (70s and 80s disco) plus Radio 1 and made sure they were awake.

Very childish, but very satisfying.

When I lived in flatshares in London I used to do this all the time, except I used Opera music, and yes, it is very satisfying

I cant wait until my DD sleeps until after 620am, bliss. Only 12 years to go...!

YANBU at all. At least they might be so tired that they sleep early tonight too, does it work like that?

mamhaf · 03/11/2008 14:12

It'll work like that if they do the same again tonight and I wake them again at 6.20 .

Not with any judgey pants on, but how/why are they up at that time?

Or am I a blissfully ignorant mum of two below 4 who has no clue how teenagers kick off when one tries to insist on a bedtime?

lou33 · 03/11/2008 14:23

my 16 and 12 yr old are always doing this late at night too

mamhaf · 03/11/2008 14:37

Sycamore - it's the end of half term, they've been up late last week and despite my best efforts just would not go to bed earlier last night.

In the end I was so knackered I just went to bed anyway...only to find they were keeping me awake - not intentionally, just being thoughtless.

Teenagers can be just as sleep-depriving as babies and toddlers but in a different way!

Oh Jeez, now you tell me .

Yes, half term, didn't think of that. New concept to me - just experienced my first one ever.

As you were (before my entirely useless interjection).

Now dd2 is really grumpy - at least it means she might go to bed on time tonight. Could just be PMT though - the joys of 2 teenage daughters!
