I spent all morning yesterday trying to get tickets for Take That
Spoke to a friend of mine last night and she managed to get 4 and she's going with her sister so has 2 spare.
I asked her if i could buy the 2 spare ones off of her and she told me that she only bought 4 so she could put 2 on Ebay and if i want them i can bid like everyone else

I can't believe so many of you think this is ok. Selling tickets you suddenly can't use is one thing but buying extra just to scalp some poor bugger who really wants to go but wasn't lucky enough to press the refresh button at the right time stinks. It is a shitty thing to do and I would tell her so.

mayorquimby · 01/11/2008 14:35

fair play to her i reckon.the economy works on supply and demand and while it would be nice if she gave them to you at face value she bought them to make a profit from them.

SoWhat · 01/11/2008 14:36

YANBU at all. I would be really pissed off.

I would be annoyed if I were you, but dont say I blame your friend if she has done this as a money opportunity. If i had gone to the troble of getting them then felt i had to sell them face value to a friend I would be a little miffed. Maybe selfish of me but that's my opinion.

Am watching a few on ebay though and not all are selling so she may not be lucky!

NumberFour · 01/11/2008 15:27

Mean old moo.
Makes it hard to be nice back to her I am sure.

electra · 01/11/2008 15:28

with friends like that...!

electra · 01/11/2008 15:30

Also, if she could actually afford 4 in the first place she can't be that hard up.

IAmNotHere · 01/11/2008 15:33

Is it legal to resell tickets? Isn't that touting?

Now you know how she has so much money though. Some of the stingiest people I have ever known have also been some of the wealthiest.

LittleWhizzingBella · 01/11/2008 15:35

Is that legal?

Report her!

(Who to? The Take That authority?)

It's all very well for people to talk of Tescos, etc making a profit. But cut throat, enterprising business decisions have no place within the context of a friendship and this person obviously thinks money is more important which makes her greedy imo.

Nothing wrong with being enterprising but when that comes at the expense of those you are supposed to care about you are crossing an unethical boundary....love of money is the root of all evil, etc...

I would be absolutly fuming if a friend did that to me.

Even if i were skint i'd have still sold them for face value if a friend really wanted to go.

jasper · 01/11/2008 16:04

buying to sell on ebay is low down behaviour anyway

Maybe she could afford 4 because the 2 extra will pay for her two.
