Or does that prove that it's organic and i should be pleased

The last two times i have had a caterpillar crawl ot of my tesco's organic broccoli, am i being unreasonable not to want anything live in the food i order?

I get my veg delivered

I take it as a sign that it's been freshly picked and boxed when there is life in there

My organic broccoli comes from the allotment. It has been teeming with caterpillars this year.

CapnJadetheKnife · 28/10/2008 18:26

YABU

either you put pesticides on it to kill everything living on it.

Or you take a chance that once in a while there will be something living on it.

"am i being unreasonable not to want anything live in the food i order?"

Yes if you buy organic.

ilovemyflipflops · 28/10/2008 18:27

Of course YABU!
I buy organic simply because I'd rather eat an insect than the pesticide. Either you choose for them to have been removed or you don't. Simple.

SmugColditz · 28/10/2008 18:39

Caterpillars like broccoli. They must be quite hardy too as I frequently find them in the Tesco Value cheap broccoli I buy!

SmugColditz · 28/10/2008 18:39

ps of course you are being unreasonable, take some responsibility for what you put in tyour mouth!

noonki · 28/10/2008 18:42

YABU - caterpillars are delicious

ilovemyflipflops · 28/10/2008 18:46

I'm embarrassed i had a girly theres something crawling in my food moment i'm totally unreasonable. You'll be pleased to know Colin's gone to live in the garden where i'll soon be found ploughing my way through caterpillars to get to my washing line.

Just wash your broccoli then any wildlife will be drowned.

ilovemyflipflops · 28/10/2008 18:47

Tesco catterpillars are too hardy for that

I felt really bad when I slammed my cauliflower (asda not organic) down then found a large and very dead caterpillar with guts oozing out. I also felt bad at the squeal I did when I saw it.
Nothing compares to the half a beetle I found in my cooked spinach - I know I ate the rest of it!
