Prehaps with the exception of family members?

I am not going to do as I don't see the point, it is a waste of time, money and environmental resources.

What do you think?

I disagree. We've moved around an awful lot and it's lovely to catch up with people at Xmas, even with just a few lines about what we're all up to (we don't go the round robin letter route, they make me cringe!). We even have cards from people we've met on holidays, it's lovely, and I don't begrudge the couple of evenings it takes me to write them.

Keeping even minimal contact means that if they're ever in our area, or vice versa, we make the effort to see one another. I've got friends I've known for 20 years, and only see once every couple of years, but it's like no time has passed when we do get together.
