HollyGoHeavily · 25/10/2008 22:08

I am doing exactly the same!

Why do people want to watch torture and general horribleness???

bubblerock · 25/10/2008 22:08

DH watched all of the DVD's last week ready for the new one coming out - he's at the cinema now watching it - load of crap if you ask me

S1ur · 25/10/2008 22:10

2shoes I have issued warnings. I told him he will be haunted by images that WILL NEVER leave him. He grinned. fool.

I am going to go on msn and MN and hide behind my laptop screen's safety.

wrinklytum · 25/10/2008 22:28

YANBU.dp is trying to persuade me to watch it.I don't do grim torture bloodfest movies. He says it was to get me back after I got Cloverfield out on DVD,which was, admittedly one of the crappest ,ovies I have ever seen.

nickytwoooohtimes · 25/10/2008 22:30

God, it is grim isn't it?
I made dh take me to the cinema to see it!
Can't watch it now - too gory.

I would be pretty worried if my dh wanted to watch people being hurt for fun. I honesty think that films like this are a sign of something bad happening to our society.

retiredgoth · 25/10/2008 22:35

....I thought only pimply 14 year olds watched the 'Saw' films.

...they are, so far as I can ascertain, formulaic and devoid of merit.

I'm reminded of secondary school, where tatty copies of James Herbert books were surrupticiously swapped (and fell open at the dirty and/or gory bits..)

blossomsmine · 25/10/2008 22:36

Yeah, i am hiding in the kitchen!! My dd (15) loves these films too she is waiting to see the new one that has just come out................ I would be traumatised!!!

ToThrottleABlackBird · 25/10/2008 22:37

Oh dear like I said, It is only a film

S1ur · 25/10/2008 22:38

RG I can assure you I am not married to a fourteen year old!!!

nope he has proper man stubble and everfin'

HeinzEVILSight · 25/10/2008 22:39

DH is watching it in the lounge, I'm safe in the kitchen watching XFactor. DH tried to convince me it's a 'good' gory movie, has 4 stars in the Radio Times and everything......

nah, will stick with MN and Xfactor

S1ur · 25/10/2008 22:40

mabanana

naaaaah, I don't think so! but I do retain imagery very well and it 'stays' with me, which is why I choose not to add to the scary stuff in my head already.

OP posts:
retiredgoth · 25/10/2008 22:41

...can you ask him if he has any old James Herbert books?

(and if so, may I borrow them. Ahem)

S1ur · 25/10/2008 22:42

I believe he has many comics, oh no sorry graphic novels if that helps?

OP posts:
retiredgoth · 25/10/2008 22:44

...never quite 'got' graphic novels I must confess.

...fond of the Beano, though.

S1ur · 25/10/2008 23:35

well, good lord it has made DH actually gasp a bit and almost cover his eyes. I am vindicated.

ladymariner · 25/10/2008 23:38

My best friend loves these films, she likes anything gory. I love things like dirty dancing, mama mia, love actually etc.

Opposites attract

S1ur · 25/10/2008 23:44

well he gave thumbs up, apparently so good he is lining up next one

mooog · 25/10/2008 23:46

ToThrottleABlackBird · 26/10/2008 00:08

Ive set the timer to record saw2 tomorrow. Tbh, I did not find it scary. The film on bbc1 looks like it has been quite scary though!

MollyCherry · 26/10/2008 00:13

Glad it's not just me. I came in here and went online about and hour ago, having got up to the bit where the guy jumps out of the little girl's wardrobe and ties her and her mum up. Was literally in tears and needed a whisky.

I cannot watch anything like that since having DD (4.1), and cannot understand why hubby is so keen on them. (Well, can a bit from a storyline point of view but still won't be seeing anymore of it/them)
