It is fecking FREEEEEZING! I am sitting here with a 2-bar electrical heater on, cowering inside cos it's too bloody windy and cold (although nowhere NEAR as bad as yesterday when it was also horizontal rain!) to go outside!

Surely, it's supposed to be nice and warm? Surely I am supposed to be able to wear my 2 lovely new swimmers that I bought only last week? This is just wrong!!

And DH wants me to move here next year, on the grounds that it's so much more outdoorsy and lovely weather!

I was in Sydney the end of October last year for the first 9 days it was cool and heavy rain. Luckily the next 3 weeks was lovely. I am an Aussie but have lived in the UK for 39 years so the weather doesn't bother me. So many people seem to think that it is hot all the time can't believe that some parts of the country actually have snow. I lived in Armidale NSW for a few years and I always say it was colder ther in winter than we have here down in the south.

Hurrah! Today is bright and sunny and, while still a little nippy, shaping up to be a good day - at last! The breeze is now just that, instead of a raging wind - phew!
Mellywell, don't be disheartened, it's not as bad as November in England!

It was two degrees here in canberra last night - freezing. We have gas heating though Tigurr! Had to stagger out of bed to put it on though. The weather usually isn't consistently warm till after xmas though and sometimes it can rain all summer in sydney.

more hurrah! Managed to go swimming today at last, although the lake was still bloody cold, so only lasted about 5 mins. Still, new "Liz Hurley-esque" swimmer now had its inauguration.

if you come and live here, witch, pack all the winter clothes you'd wear in the UK. Unless you're at the Top End, you'll need them. Indoors, mostly. This is due to total denial on the part of Aussies that it EVER gets cold in Godzone, therefore no need for central heating. That works.

Uggs, thick socks and flannelette pajamas, things I never had to wearing the UK, are essential here.

And THEN you have to listen to every fecking Aussie asking, did you come here for the weather?

thumblesswitch · 26/10/2008 12:18

LOL Echt - from my limited experience so far, that sounds about right!

Will bring all cold-weather clothes and duvets etc. next year as we are aiming to come in April/May, so winter time!
