It just seems that if you get to know people on MN then what would you change your name for and not tell anyone?

Its just that I have noticed that on some threads you notice someone has somehow recognised someone else even though they have namechanged.
Now I have only been on mn for a couple of weeks but why wouldnt you want to tell some of the friends you have made on mn that you are namechanging.

tis just the way of things. people who have struck up friendships may be in touch outside of mn, but there are lots of folk who like/want the anonymity (one of the perks of t'internet).

Acksherley now that I get the q, I will admit to being sad that a poster who I got on well with has not made themselves known to me in their new name.

People namechange to protect their privacy. Or because they're bored with their name. Or because it's Halloween soon. Or because their name is known to someone in RL who's checking their posts. They may mention it. They may not. It's their choice.

You see, that is what I meant. When someone you have got on really well with namechanges and chooses not to tell you. Surely that hurts feelings.?????
