To want us as a family to treat DDs to HSM & dinner beforehand - not sure??

DD1 is desperate to see HSM3. I have just checked on our local cinema listing and there are tickets for early this evening. We have a really nice Italian next to the cinema and I thought it would be nice for us to have tea 1st and then go and watch the film.

Just phoned DH and he was in a bit of a strop saying "Oh I'm not going, it's not my cup of tea. Why would I want to see HSM?". I was really mad and cut the conversation short. No, HSM isn't my cup of tea either TBH but thought it would be nice for us all to go out and treat the DDs as a family.

AIBU? Not sure really!

The thing is I can't play the "I don't particularly want to go" card cos I actually don't mind HSM. OK, it wouldn't be my first choice of film but still I suppose that's not the point.

My cousin is taking DD on Sunday - I would rather stick hot pins in my eyes that have to sit through that American Teen Twaddle.

So you are being unreasonable!

just booked our tickets for tonight

i'll be taking DS1 and DD on my own though as DS2 and DS3 are poorly so DP will stay with them.......hope i don't go into labour with all the singing and excitement...

We're going tonioght 5.20pm after school. It is dd's birthday treaT.

We are not going to eat out before though as I don't think it's fair for ds to miss Gymbobs, especially as he doesn;t want to go see HSM but he has to for dd.

Madame, have you actually seen any of the HSM films? They are no less cheesy than many classic musicals and the music on the whole is pretty decent, age appropriate with a good message.

my SIL is taking dd and neice to see it on saturday so i wont have to sit thru it, woooooohooooooooooooooo on the downside i will have her yougest dd and my ds to entertain!

The film will be utter tosh, but your DH will enjoy it becuase he will see his wee ones enjoying it and get carried away on the spirit of it.

I remember taking a bunch of kids to see 'Scooby Doo 2', and having such a good time that I led them all in dancing in the aisle to the finale!!!

Fast forward to when the DVD came out, I watched it at home on my own and though 'omg this film is actually total crap', but I had enjoyed it so much at the time just because the kids had enjoyed it.

Good luck persuading him, hope you do succeed but you'll have fun with or without him.

OK, I take it back. The film was utter tosh and I really like the other two. They tried to be much too clever and the storyline was sort of non existent, just lots of excuses for the characters to delve off into fantasy dance sequences all the time.

Dd had a fantastic evening though.

pinkblossom · 23/10/2008 14:53

Well I went on my own (without miserable old git DH) and the girls LOVED IT!! I enjoyed it but preferred the others TBH. But, dds had a great time and that's all that matters.

Exactly!!!

I bet your dh would have enjoyed Sharpay's white leotard though! Mine certainly did.
