We're off to visit DH's big sister this weekend. She's a great believer in lie ins. She has 3 older kids ( teenaged and lovely). She phoned DH yesterday for a chat about logistics to say that she'll be in her own bedroom rather than letting us have it as previously (this is NOT a problem- we don't move rooms when people visit) because she doesn't want to be woken up by our DS (2 1/2) and DD ( 10 months). AIBU to want to stay home now?

I think its unreasonable.
If you have guests that you should expect interruptions to your usual routine
There is an underlying accusation that she was pissed off with them waking her last time too

Sorry, what exactly is the problem? She wants to sleep in her own room and you say you don't mind that but you also say you don't want to go because of it.

You don't like her, do you?

I meant YANBU
You rarely stay over there, surely she could get out of bed early for once?
I think she is being inhospitable

From what you've posted, I think it all sounds fine to me. So she is keeping her bedroom, meh, I don't even think its rude - to explain its because she doesn't want to be woken up by small dc.

I think its fair enough.

But you need to give us some more info, why 8am what else did she say?

Thanks for the perspectives. Don't feel the need to go into huge detail but I really appreciate some of the YABU ones. Sometimes you just have to hear it from someone else's perspective. Thanks guys. I'm not checking it again so if you want to keep posting please do but it'll be for your own amusement!!!

Did your kids wake her at 5am last time?

When my brother visited with his small toddler I took him downstairs at dawn to play and let my b and SIL have a rare lie-in...but i hadn't had my own child by then!

I simply don't do mornings and I've never apologised for it! I'm a loving and patient auntie but not at 6am.

That's parent time. My DP is better at mornings then me so when I have my tiny nephew overnight he does the morning shift - thank gawd.
