to not organise a birthday party?

ds will be 3 soon.

I think he knows about birthdays and wants to know when his party will be and will his friends will be there...
of course I have not organised one
he doesn't really have friends as such as he has only recently started playgroup...I wouldn't know who to ask and its short notice for playgroup mothers now anyway because of my dithering...I have 6 month old baby too and am quite knackered...

god...should I give an almighty push of effort and invite my friends' kids round?or should I just take cakes in playgroup the next day?

if he gets the presents he wants then he will only be interested in the toys anyway....I hope...

Have a small family party, cake & a few balloons...

I'm not doing one either for DS this year, and I don't have a six month old.
He'll not be bothered when he sees his new toys.

If he knows enough about birthdays to ask when his party is and who is coming to it, then I think he'll be mightily bothered that you haven't done anything.
Why not just invite a couple of friends round, a few balloons, a jelly and cake, it won't take any organising and he'll love it.

I know ladym I know....unfortunately he is going through the stage where he is reluctant to share and the party could be lovely OR could be fraught (the irony is not lost on me!)

My recently turned 3 Ds would have gone ballistic if we hadn't had a party for him. He is obsessed by cake, especially birthday cake!
If your ds is asking about his party then he is obviosly expecting one. Could this be a opportunity to get to know some of the playgroup mums?

Hire church hall (£20 or so)
Blow up lots of balloons
Borrow/buy a bubble machine
Play CDs
Have picnic tea on a rug
Produce cake
Send everyone home with a bag of sweets 1.5 hours later
Job done
