My oh's mate was desperate for childcare for 4 weeks so I stepped in. Didn't ask for payment, just that they provided food for throughout the day for him....which they never did.

I have since asked them for at least something to cover the cost of the food for 4 weeks as what he ate came out of my fortnightly £50 budget for MY family. She is refusing, claiming it was my responsibility!

After asking for this, I have now been told I have a bad attitude!!!!

AM SO right now

That's awful! YANBU at all. It would be such a shame if this silly cow took away your trust in everyone else though. Then she'll have cost you not just a material amount, but she'll have taken away something that makes you you...

Next time, just tell the favour asker that you had a bad experience and ask them for food/money up front to cover expenses. If they say no, say you can't help!

Don't worry about it. The Karma effect will kick in at some point and she'll find lots of brown stuff falling on her head, hopefully without warning

WTF!
I'll be sending DS to nursery £200 a week for it and I still have to supply his sodding milk! (It's a lovely nursery and I know that's standard, but to illustrate my point!)
YANBU
Tell the selfish, thick-skinned, greedy, lazy fucker to fuck off and find a nursery!
You sound lovely BTW

cheeky bugger.

Blandmum · 21/10/2008 10:32

Wow, what a cheek!

I wouldn't offer again. She'll lear that you don't shit on people who do you a favour

sb6699 · 21/10/2008 11:22

She'll be looking for the same favour at some point in the future and won't be able to ask you so will be stuck - HA!

I have to go to a very close family member's wedding in a distant foreign country soon and am already feeling very resentful at having to fork out for flights accomodation etc. as we really can't afford it, I also have to take my kids out of school as the wedding is on a Friday. Had an email today saying that they don't want wedding presents (we couldn't afford to give one anyway) but would like contributions towards their honeymoon (somwhere like Martinique). I don't care if I am being unreasonable in being bloody annoyed about this and feel it is a damn cheek but would be interested in other opinions. The happy couple are very comfortably off and really can afford a honeymoon themselves.

very sorry cocked up sending this message, will post again millions of apologies.

I think not contributing for food is appalling by the way.
