To be bloody annoyed by the 'helpers' at the NCT sale.

There must have been about 20 odd helpers there. It opened at 10 I queued from about 9.30 as I'd been advised to get in early and get the good stuff. Then I find out that the people helping get first pick before it opens and all the decent clothes - what I went for - had gone before it even started. I did find one nice thing and the woman at the pay desk said " Oooo that's nice, I wonder how I missed it " . No more NCT for me.Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Or is this info on the NCT website? Sorry in a rush and don't have time to look!

Well I didn't know, tigermoth as I said in an earlier post. But perhaps they should be more explicit so that they'd get more volunteers as clearly some of you think it's an absolutely massive perk.

I really don't see what the big deal is about this - you never know what's going to be there and it's just bad luck if someone else gets to the stuff you want before you do. What would have happened if there'd been a lady in the queue before the OP who'd grabbed all the stuff she'd wanted? She would have just had to suck it up. And that's what she should do here. If she wants first dibs, volunteer.

RIPPED OFF AT AN NCT SALE!!!

I went to a sale today and paid £15 for a secondhand Tomy Safari baby sling that said complete on the box - the box was taped up with masking tape and it did not say 'sold as seen' anywhere on it. When I got home, the lumbar support part was missing. So I emailed the organisers and they said that I needed to tell them the colour of the seller's label that was on the box.

I am so annoyed and feel totally ripped off - I've checked my consumer rights and they say I am entitled to compensation but the NCT organiser has said that without knowing the colour of the label they can't do anything about it.

I bought about 6 different things all with different coloured labels and of course the helpers took them all off - so I can't remember what colour the label was!.

Has anyone had similar problems?

I helped at the last NCT sale and it was fab. I did actually do some work too such as setting the stuff up and packing up. we did get first pick and I got a fabulous pushchair, a lovely mamas and papas mini rocking horse and some cool toys and clothes.
There was lots of fabulous stuff left at the end of the sale too. There's nothing to stop you from helping at a sale. I had some stuff to sell and got in touch with the coordinator who hooked me up.
