To want to give these a new home?

My my kids were babies my grandma kitted/crochuered (sp??) them blankets etc...all of which I've kept.

However, the kids are now 7 and 9 years old so obviously have no need for baby blankets now! and I very much doubt I'll ever have any more kids and I just don't have the space to keep stuff I don't use...

AIBU to give them a new home?

yes i think you are a bit - i'm sure in years to come your kids would love to have them, and maybe use them for their kids...

JellycatShopkeeper · 13/10/2008 21:54

I've kept mine, can't bear to let them go.

In fact, I'd go as far as to say YABU

Joolyjoolyjoo · 13/10/2008 21:55

Oh no- I'd definitely keep them (but then I am very sentimental about things like that)

Tryharder · 13/10/2008 21:55

Not unreasonable as long as the blankets go to a good home and are truly appreciated by the user. I bet your Grandma will/would be happy if she knew that other babies were getting use out of her blankets rather than stuck away in the loft or somewhere.

Ohhhhh, I couldn't possibly get rid of something like that! All 3 SmallDragons had the same cotton Tigger blanket and that's not going anywhere.

MrsSnape · 13/10/2008 21:58

I know, it does have sentimental value...I keep thinking if I get rid of them, if/when something happens to poor Gags I'll wish I'd kept them.

I'll put them back in the wardrobe

hangs head in shame

not unreasonable, just very unsentimental

dd used the same blanket I had when I was a baby (and it's not even handmade or anything and pure 70s polyester I think) - I can't bear to part with it it.

mil also crocheted her a blanket and I have still got that. Not to mention the hats, scarves, jumpers etc.

ps I don't have any room really either - I probably should get rid of them, but I just can't!

Quite right too. [stern]

I've got rid of loads of handmade stuff, including things I've sweated over myself - I've got the DCs, the rest is just that - stuff. It's served its purpose for me and mine, so someone else may as well get the use of it. As it is, my loft is bulging, without keeping every hand-made item for 3 DCs over 13 years and counting.

I do have a 'moment' when I say goodbye, but you have to let stuff go at some point.
