to wonder why low-fat, lo-salt cheese has no flavour?

I bought some last night as I'm trying to diet but I wonder if I'd be better just eating full-fat cheese but less of it iywswim? I love all cheese (bar blue cheese) but this is... dire.

it has no flavour cos it's all in the fat and the salt.

Better to eat less full fat/salt (and flavour) cheese.

eat normal cheese but less.
the fat and salt iswhat gives it it's cheeseness.

The answer is yes - anything 'low-fat' has been through some kind of extra process, and usually had extra salt or sugar added (although clearly not, in this case).

Your long-term health is more important than weight loss, but try and think of the weight-loss as a long-term thing also.

I've just lost half a stone, but it's taken a good 3 months, and I've got another stone to go.

If you think of food as healthy fuel for the body instead of a hobby or a treat to indulge in (although I've no idea if either of these is you), it helps.

No sugar is also great as a general principle, and IT WORKS. Good luck.

Banging on again, the fat in food is what satiates, so if you eat low fat stuff you're always looking for something else to make you feel satisfied, which is how bingeing can start.

I see food as fuel but also something to be enjoyed (sadly I have done quite a lot of that recently). I am about a stone overweight but I'm more interested in the general health implications of less fat/salt/sugar in my diet than losing weight per se although that is also a target for me.

I've already cut out having sugar in drinks so perhaps I just need to persevere with this cheese. I think I was a mouse in a previous life as cheese tends to be my downfall.

If you're eting cheese as part of meals, there's no problem. It's snacking on it (or anything else) between meals that puts weight on or makes it difficult to lose.

If you make sure you eat a decent wodge of protein with every meal you can go the few hours until the next, and if you have to snack (through hunger), include protein also, eg couple of crackers with cheese/ few nuts and dried or fresh fruit.

I use half fat cheese it and I agree it's rather lacking.

Tbh I just use it for cooking really. It's ok to grate on top of things etc, but I can't just eat a piece and really enjoy it.

But then if it was real cheese I'd be nibbling away and that'd help the weight to stay on.

If it's good stuff and in the fridge I'll eat it alright and gradually the intention to just eat less of it would evaporate. I have no self control
