Was in the Ann Summers shop on Wednesday and there were two women in there with small children in pushchairs. OK fair enough, they won't understand coz they're too young

but

there were also sixth formers from the local school (it was lunch time) in there!!!!! In their school uniform !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Am I old-fashioned or not. I thought you had to be 18 to go in there. Even the girl on the till didn't look 18!!!!!!

Well our store of Ann Summers is suggestive and provocative from the front window. Trust and communication is the key. I should know, i developed breasts at 10 yrs old and started menstruation and my mother looked at me like i was the local whore

ladymariner · 12/10/2008 00:25

Different thread altogether, perhaps mambo....?

mamalovesmambo · 12/10/2008 00:35

LADymariner... why? I am talking about the different rates at which children develop, god sometimes you guys can be so judgemental. What post SHOULD I BE ON THEN? Am I being unreasonable to keep my mouth shut and not tell anyone anything about myself..... Really geting fed up with this attitude. You come back and tell me that when your DD/DS develops.

ladymariner · 12/10/2008 00:42

why are you getting so het-up, mama? I agree that young children shouldn't be in Ann Summers shops, my ds is 13 and I really wouldn't take him in/expect him and his mates to be in there sniggering over the apparatus.

However, if your mother "looked at you as if you were the local whore" simply because you developed physically then I do think that is a totally different topic altogether and a much more serious issue than whether 6th-formers should be in a "sex shop".

ladymariner · 12/10/2008 00:45

And before you start calling me judgemental. how about going back to your thread that you started earlier this evening, and you'll see that far from being judgememntal I was actually trying to help you and attempting to be sympathetic!!!!!

Sorry LadyM - Thanks for the support - I do appreciate it and hopefully you know that. I can't go into why I am so emotional and sensitive about this subject but I sincerely apologise for any offence caused. I am not here to make enemmies and sincerely apreciate all the support and advice I have received. Sorry if I have offended in any way - this is not my usual manner. Once I get a little bit more known I think people will understand my current state of mind. God bless

TinkerBellesMum · 12/10/2008 00:56

I'm trying to imagine what they could have at the front of the store which doesn't have to be at the back that's bad enough to worry about kids seeing. All the stores I've been in have only had clothes and novelties at the front and the very front has always been Knicker Box.

We can make it a competition, my niece just started hers two weeks ago and she's not 7 for another month

ladymariner · 12/10/2008 00:57

Hey mama, not offended at all, and if I can help in any way then i will.

well ds who is 2.3 was watching that call girl thing yesterday with billie piper.

i honestly don't think there's anything wrong with children in ann summers. there's nothing especially raunchy. the dressing up outfits are fairly tame. i think there is one pvc one. if ann summers sold porn that would be different but what's so disturbing about a bit of underwear, some fancy dress and a few bottles of lotions and potions.

the problem with this country is that we don't normalise sex. for some reason a natural and normal thing is turned into a massive secret taboo.
