Like children to have their friends over and this week they can both choose one. DS1 wants a friend and am getting fed up his Mum never invites him over. Yes i work and am busy but why can't she make an effort! So for the 3rd time should I let DS have this friend over?AIBU?

I apologise frequently for not having ds2's friends back. I try and do them all at once every 6 months to a year, although haven't managed it for ages. It's just very hard when ds2 has a severely autistic brother. And when ds1 is at respite I want to use the time myself or to take ds2 and ds3 to something they can't usually do (pizza express/the beach/cinema etc).

I think ds2'friend's mum's understand. I hope they do.

Another perspective
I love dd having friends over as she is an only. It gives her someone to play with. Shes quite a serious sensible creature so I think her rather more silly light hearted friends are a really good balance for her nature. I really dont care whether she gets invited back or not.

we always had children over to play at our house cos is was easier for us and DS used to go to some school mates houses too. situations change, ours was not a suitable place to be for visting kids once DH was very poorly, hopefully people understood that.

DD's best mate comes over a lot, DD doesn't get invited back there but I KNOW that very-ill-bedbound-Granny lives there too so it doesn't matter.

Unless you know the circs, chill out

Our house is always full of kids. My 5yr old son had a friend sleep over for the first time the other night and he was over the moon. My daughter then invited 3 of her friends over who slept over too.

Luckily for me i have an evening job, so i just said bye to the crowd and went to work

Why don't you try and invite the Mother over for coffee as well and get to know her better. There could be a number of reasons why she does not have children over.
