My dd2 who is nearly 12 was coming home from school yesterday on the tube with dd1, when she got on the tube she tripped over some womens bag, and fell on her knee badley now dd2 is a tough little cookie and it takes alot to make her cry, but dd1 told me dd2 was crying as she fell badley, I asked what the women did and dd2 told me she tutted and said silly girl and pulled a face a her, dd2 knee is really bruised and swollen. Im just cross that the women didnt check she was ok, now I know it wasnt intential with the bag but she could have had some concern towards my dd2, but then again nobody on the tube asked if dd was ok lucly she had her sister with her, but if that was me I would have checked she was ok. aibu to think that she was a hartless cow!

You weren't there, you didn't see it for yourself, it's now a game of Chinese whispers (you say that your DD1 says that she saw...), Woman probably was a heartless cow, but you don't know if your DD2 had a spell of not paying attention, I would let it goooooooooo....

mdrooney · 02/10/2008 13:42

peanutbutterkid, It could have been dds fault she can be a bit clumsey like her mum, but that wasnt the issue, The issue is that dd hurt herself and this women instead of asking and checking to see dd was ok was rude to her, I Know that if it had happned the other way round dds would have checked if the women was ok, I just wonder what this world is comming to that people can be rude to each other and a young girl when she was obvisely hurt.

they are all rude buggers on the tube though.

you should have seen the abuse dh and i got taking up the whole escalater (sp?). all we were doing was reading our tourist guide to london book

TotalChaos · 02/10/2008 13:47

yanbu. I notice you say the Tube though - London public transport is pretty notoriously unfriendly.

Btw a few months ago I fell headlong (crack in pavement). A woman stopped, not only didn't ask if I was OK but gave me a really filthy glare(!). Can only assume she thought I was pissed.

hughjarssss · 02/10/2008 13:50

I'm shocked that a child could fall over and no one would check if she was ok, esp. if no adult was with her.
YANBU

Sad world we live in.

combustiblelemon · 02/10/2008 13:51

It was the tube.

nailpolish · 02/10/2008 13:55

when i was young i had terrible probs with low bp and i used to faint a lot

i was in town one day and i felt very faint, fell to my knees, asked a passerby "please help i feel very ill" i was short of breath and a bit scared

he said to my friend "get your drunked friend home or im calling the police"

i was 12!

mdrooney i hope dds knee is ok

Blu · 02/10/2008 14:01

WEll, since she was with her older sister, and fro the woman's pov she may have had her bag trampled on, and was i pain but not apparantly in need of medical attention, it wasn't the cosiest experience, but not worth getting het up about.

Now - tourists not heeding the 'stand on the right' notices on the escalators - that IS a heinous business

mdrooney · 02/10/2008 14:13

Blu know what you mean about the escalators lol
Dd was with her older sister but she is only 1 year older, its just annoyed me as I have taught dds to be kind and considerate to others and have manners, and dd2 is always helping people on the tube with buggys and cases she really is a sweetie in that sense, it just got me angry that this grown women or anyone else on the tube would not aquire how she is but I supose the sad thing is its the world we live in.

The tube seems to bring out the worst in people.

OrmIrian · 02/10/2008 14:40

It's a shame. Poor DD. Why are some people so cold and unfriendly?

CountessDracula · 02/10/2008 14:43

She sounds like a witch

I was in JL with dd once when she was quite little and afraid of escalators. I tried to get on one with her and she pulled back at the last minute - I tried to coax her on and this vile woman shouted "oh ffs how pathetic" and shoved past us (there was another escalator free right next to us)

I did take great pleasure in shouting "oh sod off you ugly orange old bag" at her

(she was one of those wrinkly orange tarty looking women who wears leopardskin and loads of make-up and thinks they look young bu they just look old and orange and ugly)

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/10/2008 14:45

how is your dd now?

the woman does seem a bit uncaring, but guess in this world now,she might have felt if she had helped, she could have been accused of stuff

it wouldnt have hurt her to ask if she was ok etc?

VinegarTits · 02/10/2008 14:46

I dont have to deal with the tube (thankfully) as im from up north, but i would definately check a child was ok if they fell over and hurt themselves in front of me, it being 'the tube' is no excuse for that womans rude behaviour. YANBU.

nailpolish · 02/10/2008 14:47

omg CD what a stupid old hag

galaxy · 02/10/2008 14:50

Woman was a crabby old bag by the sound of things! I travel on the tune several times a week and get elbowed, shoved and stamped on. Unfortunately, I have a big Gob so usually end up making some sarcastic comment (that'll probably get me knifed one day.

Shame on the woman and the other passengers!

handlemecarefully · 02/10/2008 14:51

mdrooney - it is indeed very disappointing and sad that nobody was solicitous to your dd....[sighs in sad and resigned manner]

mdrooney · 02/10/2008 15:10

dd is ok now and limped off to school this morning, but she does have a very brused swollen knee, This women and the other passangers just so dispointeed me.

I was on the tube a few years ago with my then 2 year old charge when a two families got on. Two women and 5 children. When it was their stop they were all getting off when a man impatient to get on pushed passed them forcing one of the girls back onto the train because she couldn't get past him. The doors closed and she was on the train and her mum was on the platform. Not one person, including the guy whose fault it was offered her any help or comfort. She was only about 10 i think. I ended up getting off the train with her and my two year old and waited at the next station for her mother.

Its a sad state when people won't help or show concern especially towards children. She should definitely have checked that you dd was ok! Thats London for you though!
