To eat my son's after-school snack?

My dd had a friend round after school so I bought them each a Freddo (15p chocolate) from the shop when I picked them up. I bought one for ds1&2 as well.

Ds is 9 and he gets home a bit later. When he walked in and asked if he could have a snack I told him where it was, and warned him it wasn't very exciting.

He went and got it and he was mumbling a bit. I asked him if was going to say thank you and he said "Humph"

He then dropped (threw?) it. I picked it up and him if he was going to eat it.

He replied "No" so I opened it and ate it for him.

Was I being unreasonable? Ds certain thought so ...

(this was unusually brattish behaviour for ds1 btw.)
