The toddler group I go to cleans the toys pn a regular basis but now mums want antibacterail wipes in the toy boxes so they can wipe toys before letting children play with them (wipes are as clean after this as they were befor!) Also I've seen mums using the gel you can get on their hands after using the play dough and before they are allowe to do anything else. Yesterday was out to lunch and a mum got a spray out her bad sprayed the whole highchair and table before child was allowed anywhere near it. All seems to be going a little to far or am I just really scummy

lol i probably dont, but we have dogs, and they are sooo hairy - he tries to eat them too mind you!

I put baby bottles, dummies etc in the dishwasher which apparently you are not supposed to do. It steams so | don't see the problem.

If kids drop food on the floor, I just tell them it will be fine unless the floor is really dirty, its got cat hair on or we are not at home/a friend's home.

We always wash hands after the toilet, as and when needed. Why stress? My house is'nt that clean and my kids are healthy!

Holly

Well you have to do what you feel happy with! I have several pets too, apparently it is good for kids to be around pets - helps their immune system and its theraputic.

Washing hands is the one thing that makes the most difference even in hospitals, so that is a good habit to get your children into.

I must admit when I go into A & E (I work in a hosp) I try not to touch things if I can help it and I always use the provided anti-bac hand gel when I leave. I used to commute on the tube and always washed my hands when I got into work before I did anything else, esp if I was eating. Mind when I gave up work and went to uni, when all the other Freshers were being bowled over by coughs/colds and random viruses from us all suddenly living in close proximity, my immune system barely batted an eyelid all year as I never seemed to pick anything up thanks to sharing stale oxygen and goodness knows what on the tube with fellow commuters for ages. Dirt can be good .

My house is often minging and the only time DS has ever got ill was when staying at someone else's house. I do sterilise the bottles though.

My house is clean-ish but always messy and certainly nowhere near sterile! I do use antibacterial spray occasionally, in the kitchen or bathroom but only when it is really grubby and it also comes in handy when the cats bring in "presents" and spear them all over the floor
