To have sworn at the stupid man who refused to sell me a newspaper?

Because it was 'yesterdays'.

This was at about half past midnight in a petrol station, the papers were right there, but had been stacked up, presumably to be returned.

He point blank refused to let me buy one, and I waaaanted to. So had a bit of a toddler strop and called him a jobsworth twat. Whoops.

In my defence I had had a lot of wine, and really really wanted the paper.

I get hacked off sometimes.
Never called anyone a "jobsworth twat" though.
(At least not loud enough for them to be able to hear. )

If you'd waited a bit longer you could have bought "tomorrow's" paper - they probably deliver them at the same time as they collect the returns.

Sorry but YABU.

Either go earlier or read it online.

I know I was being very unreasonable, I'll be mighty ashamed next time I have to go in there.

This also happened just after I'd spent about ten minutes trying to explain that I wanted blue top milk, in a large bottle, not a pint of red top. Damn those security windows.

You can get papers outside tube stations and you used to be able to get them outside Greyhound stadia .

Useful for the post-dog analysis postmortem in the pub

In my bit of London there are ordinary shops that sell newspapers and other stuff and open until ridiculous hours - one to 3 am and another all night.
