pretty neglectful imo - do you know the family?

LynetteScavo · 27/09/2008 22:39

In their own garden?

psychomum5 · 27/09/2008 22:41

where abouts tho. their own garden, not my things but not something you can comment on really. especially if just at the weekend.

but if out on the street, during school time, and no-one elxe with them/near them/watching them.....then no, YANBU

ButtonMeUp · 27/09/2008 22:41

yanbu - is not fair on the kids or community

pgwithnumber3 · 27/09/2008 22:42

a 4 year old playing outside until 10pm? Terrible imo, sloppy parenting. Should be in bed.

ButtonMeUp · 27/09/2008 22:44

Why cant you comment on it psychomum, i dont care if weekend or not. 10pm is far to late for a 4 year old and 8 year old to be out imo. If in own garden might be a one off family party, but even if regualry in own back garden i think it is unreasonable.

Actually i am one of those mums who thinks routine is really important and 10pm is too late little ones.

madness · 27/09/2008 22:46

ha-ha sloppy parenting but seems a bit dark

pgwithnumber3 · 27/09/2008 22:46

It just shows a lack of interest in your DC when you leave them to their own devices until late at night, they should be tucked up in bed with a story and a kiss by 8pm at age 4, not hanging around the streets.

ohknickers · 27/09/2008 22:50

No just generally playing could be anywhere within 1 mile radius of mum not knowing,
how sad i cannot stop thinking about it.
girl had 7th birthday recently and my dd dodn't go (my choice, late invite plans already made). friends dd went, told her dd she was not allowed to play outside. kids from party went walk abouts up an embankment, lucky no one hurt. friends mum fumming seemed to be no adults watching over them. fternoon party.

Glad dd didnt go. since heard kids play out until really late each night.

because it is not for us to judge.....tis in the MN rules after all.

ok, I will comment properly then. I would frown upon it. I donlt think it right, any time, except maybe in the summer while still light and everyone os out with a BBQ etc.

problem is, no-one really knows what goes on. maybe these kiddies are allergic to the sun.....maybe not, but it is a (rare) possibility.

equally, maybe they have sleeps still during the day, and becuase they are not yet at school, their mum feels it is not a problem for them to play out in their garden until late. after all, the noise of kiddies palying at 10pm is hardly an anit-social problem!

I would judge tho, regardless of knowing all those points. I am not perfect, and I do 'judge a book on its front cover' so to speak.......but on this thread, with the MN head I have on, I feel I should stay impartial!!!

ohknickers · 27/09/2008 22:51

the brother age 4 has just started yr last week.

pgwithnumber3 · 27/09/2008 22:53

I will judge cos I am perfect - I think it is wrong. End of thread...

ohknickers · 27/09/2008 22:56

pg3 you sum it up vry well. I would be devaste if somethig happended,

LOL at psycho being PC!
What drives me nuts is other kids taking the piss out of ds1 and ds2 because I insist that they're in by 9pm. 9pm ffs!

Oh we have that too kerrymum. (Council street) but it is only one family. The daughter has been roaming the streets since she was two years old, has nearly been run over several times. She came crying at my window one night because she was frightened of the bats...I picked her up and took her home .

The rest of us (all council tenants) dont approve

Miaou · 28/09/2008 00:00

Lots of kids out til 10pm on the (council) estate where I live, every day of the week, in all weathers. They are almost all overweight because their tea is a bottle of coke and crisps and sweets. It makes me sad.

TheCrackFox · 28/09/2008 00:03

I used to live on a council estate like that, pre DC and it was truly grim. A lot of the children didn't seem to have a bed time at all, it was quite upsetting TBH.
