or cause them any major damage?

the reason i aks is i have applied for a job in a place i used to work so chances are im going to at least get an interview. thing is its full time hours, not really what i was looking for, so will mean 5 night out of seven, 5pm till midnight. dd1 dances from 4 till 5 3 nights a week.

dh asks what are going to with the dds? my answer: "ill drop dd1 off at dancing and walk dd2 to my work place you will collect her off me and go and get dd1 from dancing"

apparently this is not feasable incase of bad weather. i cannot possibly walk my children all that if its raining. and what are work going to think when i turn up looking "pissed on" its not v professional. i have a winter coat with a hood and umbrellas.

im going to make dd2 ill. walking her all that way in the rain and wind and snow!!!! i thought it was bacteria and virus' that made you ill not rain? dd2 has a rain cover, she has a quinny cosy thing that looks like a thermal sleeping and she will have a snowsuit. i dont think she will feel much of the cold.

i know i am not being unreasonable. so help me prove to dh that bad weather is not dangerous to the dds and i am not "imbalanced"

Is he forrin?

I only ask because my dad is from South Africa and at the slightest hint of a cloud on the horizon he will insist we all go inside 'in case we get a chill'... this despite the fact he's now lived in the UK 20 years longer than he lived in SA and we grew up in the North West where it rarely DIDN'T rain....

Does he like them standing on tiled floors in bare feet either? (no. 82 in Dad's 101 ways of catching your death) Sorry, I know it must be v. frustrating for you and not really funny, but he is being ridiculous.

Didn't I read that somewhere in Scandinavia (Denmark I think) they keep their nursery children outdoors more or less all day, regardless of the weather (tho' they do have rain shelter)? Apparently the kids never get ill. Fresh air is good for everybody, children included. (I hate seeing tiny babies swaddled up in hats and fleeces and blankets on hot sunny days - even indoors.) Rain will not melt your children. They are waterproof underneath. It's probably best to avoid them getting cold AND wet, but we do have the technology to avoid this. I walk my kids to school every day, and even when it's absolutely bucketing down we feel better for the 3/4 mile walk (and smug for beating the snarled up traffic). Go for it. YANBU.

Think it may be Norway, Tilia. I have a friend who runs a nursery school and SureStart Centre in this country who buys heavily into this and has some of the kids at her school out of the classroom all day.
