I wanted Gabriel or Raphael if DD had been a boy (DH butts in with ), but to have Raphael AND Donatello leads me to suspect TMNT role-playing.

DD wants to be Boots to her imaginary friend Dora (who is apparently as big as a lorry and round as an elephant) at the mo, which is fun to call out in Sainsbos...

BitOfFun · 15/09/2008 12:52

They must have been playing - no-one would do that to their kids, I just refuse to believe it!

PuppyMonkey · 15/09/2008 12:55

I know a Raf. He is ginger with freckles and very cool. An artist, obviously. He has a sister called Angel too.

knittingmama · 15/09/2008 12:58

oh dear, i just laughed my head off...

swiftyknickers · 15/09/2008 12:59

ah but dependng on what mood DS is in I have to refer to him as sportacus/buzz or scooby doo-people must think i am a nutter

citronella · 15/09/2008 12:59

Sorry but I don't think they are funny names at all. They are quite common European names.

wotulookinat · 15/09/2008 13:05

It's not the Italian-ness that is funny, it's the fact that they are the names of two of the Ninja Turtles.

francagoestohollywood · 15/09/2008 13:06

Raffaello (like the painter) is not used in Italy anymore. It's Raffaele, but no terribly popular.

Maybe they were nicknames? I call my dc all sorts of nicknames...

Mt DD had sisters in her swimming class named Babe and the other Vegas. I have a friend whose granddaughter is named River.

LuLuBai · 16/09/2008 20:12

They have got to have been role playing. Hopefully.

I had to disguise a fit of giggles at the playground today when a mum yelled out for her son - the name was the one my DH uses for his willy

hellymelly · 16/09/2008 20:19

I love the name Raphael,I think it is beautiful.

aquariusgirl · 16/09/2008 20:26

we know twins called Dawson and Austin think someone liked rugby!

LuLuBai · 16/09/2008 20:26

Yup - I love Raphael too. But combined with Donatello it is ridiculous.
