The nhs website says 13 percent of births are pre 37 wks. His job takes him on a trip that will mean he's over 2.5 hrs away when I'm 37 wks. My 1st labour was 9hrs long and 5 days early. The thought of doing 2.5 hrs alone is too terrifying! Parental presence def not an option! Am I bein unreasonable?

constance...but every labour is different....my first one was far quicker then my 2. one and my 3. one just was all wrong...

YABU about the four week bit. Also, chances are not much will happen in 2.5 hrs anyway (could be wrong though, I have had one very long labour and one long labour!).

I'd rather have my DH around to help after the birth...

Thanks for all ur msgs - I should've made it clear however, that his job is based in one place 5.5 days a wk, then has an away fixture every other wk on the remaining half day. He does not go to these fixtures alone however, and it would not be a problem for him to swap with someone else..all he has to do is ask.
