to think the nursery may have slighty over reacted about the nursery bear?!

Two weeks ago we were just leaving nursery(DD, DS and me) one of the workers said 'oh would you like to take x(the nursery bear with you' (we were going on holiday) so I said yes as dd in particular seemed to like the idea of it.

We took the bear home and it sat around as typically when it got there dc weren't interested!

Fast forward a week, back off holiday, I get a letter in the post regarding nursery fees. So I ring to ask about them. At the end of the conversation nursery manager says, 'oh and whilst you're on do you have x (the nursery bear)?' so i confirmed we have him. 'oh' she says 'we had a very upset child that had booked him to go to a wedding' So I said sorry i hadn't realised, i'd been given the bear by a worker(stupidly I named them without thinking). I was a bit peeved at the woman's 'tone' but just thought oh well, nothing I can do and we won't take the damn bear again!

I thought very little more about it until yesterday when I was given a newsletter, and it's only bloody on there 'x went awol so please make sure it's only taken with permission'

AIBU to wonder who on earth would want to take the bloody bear to a wedding and to think they may have slightly overreacted to me taking it without permission, which in my view I had since I was given it by a staff member. BTW we've only been with the nursery a few months so don't know all the rules yet(they only go once a week)

nicky, he'd have looked great in he photos wih his safari outfit, including matching hat

lulu, I was contemplating a note, but probably won't, as I think the newsletter went out pre my discussion with the manager about having the bear.

'This kind of noncy nursery attitude really gets up my nose. And yes, I do have PMT.'
I agree!

OH, FFS - YOU ANBU. It's only a bear. To bad that little verity or whatever wanted it, they'll get over it.>>

lol at this thread, it is a pile of twattery. It's just YET another tihng to bloody remember. As if getting them dressed, getting their teeth cleaned, hair brushed, shoes on, in the car, lunch made, invitations replied to, parents evengins childcare organised wasn;'t enough!

TheNinkynork · 13/09/2008 13:13

Go on and kidnap the bear. Take it on rowdy nights out and to lapdancing clubs, that sort of thing. Send photos to nursery.

Better yet, lend him to us. It can be the Mumsnet Bear

soon2be3 · 13/09/2008 13:17

pathetic. Does not give a good impression of the nursery. Glad dd does not have this type of nonsense at her nursery.

mrswotzisnotin · 13/09/2008 13:19

lol @ booking the bear for a wedding

thegrowlygus · 13/09/2008 13:29

A what? A nursery what? BEAR?!! That gets taken out by the children?

Thank god we don't have one. At least if we do it has never been mentioned. (just asked DS1 now whether there is one - he is looking a bit blank).

I am totally with TheNinkynork - I feel the bear needs to get out more, live a little. With photos.

God, this bear thing is such a faff

Can you believe that I used to post on a parenting forum that had a bloody bear they used to mail to each other...!

imananny · 13/09/2008 17:26

I would be really pissed off at that comment in the letter, you did not STEAL the bear, and I would have words with the staff who gave it to you

at the end of the day,its cuddly toy and if it causes grief then the nursery should have 2 or not send the bear away for a week!!

we have a bear at nusery&got given him for the evening with no warning and you have to do diary/take photos of an exciting event and return the next day - what a nightmare it was - stuck teddy on swing&took photo
