to think checkout operator should mind his own business and not comment on alcohol purchase!

Half bottles of wine are on sale, four for £5, half bottles are perfect for two of my chicken recipes so I thought I'd stock up. Till operator tells me it's wrong for me to be buying alcohol, it's not good for the baby (5 month old dd in trolley), for god's sake I'm not giving it to her, or even drinking it and breast-feeding, it's going in a chicken casserole, but honestly what business is it of his?!

There's one checkout guy I always avoid if I'm buying a newspaper - he always unfolds it, reads the headline & makes a comment, usually one obviously intended to provoke an argument.
Once he picked it up while I was still putting stuff on the conveyor and actually opened it to read something inside. DS was with me & said 'Didn't you get time to finish the paper on your break?'

For a while before I was ttc DH and I ended up using condoms for a while. The large packs were on 3 for 2 in tescos, so I bought them (along with general food shop). When I got to the checkout the woman said 'looks like you'll be having a fun time tonight' - I didn't immediately realise what she was saying and made a 'haha yeah' type non-committal comment, then looked up and realised she was waving condom packets. It was so but in hindsight I wish I'd complained.

Never had a comment about my shopping, but lots of the till operators actually, thumb through my newspaper! I'd like to read it first thank you very much

Ripeberry I'd say "they're on aisle 2 if you want a copy"
