OK, this one is REALLY trivial, but AIBU to hate the word "bling"?

Title says it all really.

Does anyone else hate this word?

(I know there are more important isses out there, I don't need reminding before I get blasted!)

oh no I can't listen to Radio 1, it is physically painful. It could be used as a form of torture, imo.

another word to describe 'bling' - hmmmm, let me think. Jewellery? Flashy tasteless jewellery? Flashy tasteless overpriced jewellery? Flashy tasteless overpriced jewellery worn by people who think such things are impressive....

I like bling, it is effective at conveying a certain image

I don't like the word bling. But also have to agree that it does describe a particular thing/mood very well. THink bling and you just see a girl with HUUUUUUGe earring and her name across her knuckles don't you? Or a bloke with loads of horrible gold chains and gold teeth.

It is at its worst when you hear people use it seriously.
