to let my toddler play outside in the rain

I am pretty sure I am NBU...she is 2 years old and dressed in wellies, heavy jeans and a mack.

DD begged to play outside despite the heavy rain, so I let her out. I'm snugged up on the sofa nursing DS, Mumsnetting and watching her play in the garden.

I did try and get her inside 5 minutes ago when the weather got worse but she shouted 'No' and ran off with her ball to the bottom of the garden. She is crazy to want to be outside today.

Just reassure me that my neighbours are not going to ring the social

My DS (2 1/2) was out in the pouring rain today having the best old time! He didn't even have a coat on and took his jumper off to dry the windows of his playhouse! I guessed he'd come in if he was cold! I just kept waving at him and the grin on his little face was a picture! I did give him an umbrella but he tipped it upside down to collect water in!

Hooray! I remember being stripped to pants wrapped in a towel and given cocoa after running around in the rain

Erm when I was a child, obv.

For some reason I can't get the enthusiasm together these days for puddle jumping. Leave it to the youngsters I say [old git emoticon]

ChukkyPig · 06/09/2008 19:02

Soooo cute!

DanJARMouse · 06/09/2008 19:07

how cute is she!

My girls LOVE being out in the rain, picked DD1 up from school yesterday with me and DD2 in wellies, raincoats and umbrellas.

Just looking for a decent, cheap raincoat for me!

georgiemum · 06/09/2008 19:08

Is she made of sugar? Kids love being in the rain. If we kept them in every time it rained they'd never go out!

Overmydeadbody · 06/09/2008 19:10

YANBU

LL - I recently bought one of those for DD - now there is nowhere we can't go in the rain! YANBU, my colleagues think I'm mad though when I've mentioned it.

Your lovely dd has the survival instinct; as rain gradually takes over the UK only rain-friendly toddlers can survive!

Good girl. Yesterday and today DS (4yrs) and me gardening in the rain Fab beats playing cars indoors for me. We also had a major melt down in a indoor play area. He needs to be out if I'm not going to tan his hide.

Loshad · 06/09/2008 20:01

sweet sweet little girl, it's great you let her play out and have fun.

chipsandtart · 06/09/2008 20:06

my two always beg me to take them down to the skate park at the park when it rains as it gets mildly flooded so they love running through the water and sliding down the ramps into big puddles. then its home hot bath to warm up a big lunch and snuggle up with a dvd.
who says rain is boring

BabiesEverywhere · 06/09/2008 22:33

Thanks for the lovely comments about my DD. No idea how DH and I made such a sweet loving little girl
