SKY+ MULTIROOM...Removal of phone line URGENT HELP PLEASE, PANIC!

I got sky+ installed couple of weeks ago and removed cable to prevent games mad kid connecting and me having to pay 60p for each and every game!

As kids tend to hop from one game to another, I have to imagine how much our bill would be at the end of 3 months or so??

I have removed the cable that connects the sky+ box to the phoneline, but my friend dropped the bombshell earlier today.

My friend said that by removing the cable, I am breaching the terms and conditions of sky, as it states that the cable MUST be connected to phone line at all times for the first 12 months - and that I will be fined £25 for each month that cable is not connected?

I have had the 'ordinary' sky tv for many years, and also disconnected phone line off that due to same reason, apparently sky+ rules differ?

I am baffled as to why it needs to be connected for 12 months only, cos it works fine without the feckin' cable.

So worried - would be grateful for any help, thanks with fingres crossed.

I've never had my phone line plugged in to sky, sky know this, I explained that it was too far away from the phone line plus was faffing up our broadband once when I called to order a movie.

They want it connected for updates or because when you order things it has to be connected to bill you.

I would put parental control on if I were you, but not worry about the phone line.

If you get a letter just call them and explain, I've always had good service from sky.

I haven't had a phone lne attached to sky+ since we have been at this house - the engineer who installed it didn't say we needed one - we can't order movies but we didn;t want it for that and sky know we don;t have a phone ine because I have told them on countless occasions but because we live in a listed house it would be an impossibility to have one set up to go to the room the sky is in and they don't have a problem with it!

And when you take the contract out the box becomes yours - that is why it costs so much when you start - I own 2 sky+ boxes and 1 sky box due to this!

I think it is more if you sell the viewing card with the box that they don't want you to do (otherwise you could pay for multiroom at £10 room and have that second room 60miles away at the ILs house...instead of your ILs paying £50+ for a subsription of their own...in theory...I think).

As others have said I think it is only for the first 12m that is in the contract. We have multiroom. 1 box is connected to phone 1 is not (and hasn't been for about 18m). We have never had a problem (yet).
