YANBU, esecially when he has got your mum to buy you guitar hero. I think the idea of selling the wii on ebay is a good one. Maybe it will make him think in future.

I know you should be grateful you were given a gift, but not when it was never meant for you.

You aren't being ungrateful.

Oooh now see, first I thought he was a bit selfish, but now start wondering... He got your mom to buy GH??? Maybe the poor sod is really confused and thought you'd actually like it? Any chance? Benefit of the doubt and all that?

I dunno. I think people get a bit ott in terms of birthday expectations. Why should you (by which I mean 'one')get an extra extra special present just for being born - something which you really didn't have anything to do with? Just get him something similarly crappy for his birthday.

[miserable bugger emoticon].

Hey, on the upside - just think, you can now leave all the little jobs that really need doing and rather play with this, as you "love this soooooo much"

i had a chair and kitchen cupboard for xmas(seriously).think yourself lucky-in this house a wii would be considered highly romantic.

We don't really do birthday or Christmas presents for each other. Neither of us ever really wants anything and it's far more simple. I'm not materialistic for things like jewellery etc and DH hasn't really got the money. We just have a nice day instead and it's far better.

One memorable year I got an optical mouse for the computer. This was 2 days late after he'd actually forgotten my birthday on the day

ladytophamhatt · 01/09/2008 23:12

My Dh did that once.

He's rubbish at shopping but one yr he said he'd had a brilliant idea for my birthday and that I'd love it.

It turned out to be a 20G MP3 player.

The thing is I only ever listen to music when its on the radio if I'm driving or cooking.
I rarely buy CDs, maybe one or 2 per year so 20G would take a life time to fill.

Of course, it was a brilliant idea because he wanted one.

I can't remember what I got in the end but I was NOT happy.
DH has done much better on teh b'day presents since then....I got a handbag, shoes and watch this year
