We agreed before he even moved out in March that he would either pay for all of the uniforms (DS1 and 2 both going up to new schools) or at least contribute towards them.

I spoke to him earlier in the week and at that point it looked like the cost was going to be around £200 and he said he'd give me £100 towards them - I was quite happy with this.

However the cost has turned out to be closer to £300 - so I was hoping to ask him for a little bit more towards them. £130 on my CC's for bits and pieces, shoes, trousers etc, and I have to pay approx £160 for the stuff I've ordered from the 2 schools (supposed to be paid in the next few days)

When he picked the DS's up yesterday morning to have the for the night he said he hadn't made the bonus at work this month so things were tight - but he'd sort it out for today to give me the cash.

He's just dropped them off and given me £20, which means that I'm going to be about £100 short of what I actually need. He says he's going to sort the rest out, but was making excuses about things being "tight".......well sorry but I didn't exactly go leaping about in joy at the amount I've had to pay out, especially when I had to put it on the plastic -

I've texted him and arranged to ring him later to talk about when he'll give me the rest - AIBU to think that he could have made more of an effort than just £20???

YANBU as you had budgeted with this contribution in mind.

If he was paying maintenance then as I presume you get the CTC and FA then a small contribution would have been ok.

£300 ON SCHOOL UIFORM?!!!!

FAQ · 31/08/2008 21:04

I've already paid for the bits that I've not ordered from the school (well it's gone on my CC anyhow) - it's the cash for the bits from the schoool that's going to be an issue now.

Don't have an Asda and can't get to a Tesco anyhow, and they don't fit DS1 (tall and skinny).

Oh well, perhaps I'll start getting finances more tight in October.......

well we have a result with this - still not getting the money until the end of the month (hey ho I'll have to work the figures out)

BUT he's giving me £130 (to make £150 in total) to "make it fair"
