i give him hints. he ignors them. nothing to do with cash (or lack of). he just doesn't get it.
for example

i ask for an ipod - i get a mobile.

i ask for a wii fit - i get a handbag.

i ask for diamonds - i get a jumper.

he is a numpty. i agonise and go out of my way to get him what he wants. to the point that i scour rubbish train memorabilia shops for months pre-christmas. and he buys me a jumper. would it be unreasonable to seve said jumper up in a pie?

When I opened it? You're assuming they were wrapped! Actually one part was in a gift bag but the books were just in an Asda carrier bag. (The Asda carrier bag with my birthday present in it is just a standard occurrence in our house. What I haven't been able to do is answer any friends or family who have asked me what I got for my birthday!

DH once got me a terracotta pot?!?!

I now call it my "pot to piss in". Maybe he bought for me in case we ever fell onto hard times?

mcfee · 25/08/2008 20:45

TBH I don't think I said too much, was fairly speechless really but I did ask why the Jeremy Clarkson books and he said he had seen me laugh at something which was said on Top Gear...therefore thought I would like two whole books obviously! Then I asked if there were pictures in the books I was supposed to use with the vibrator but I don't really think he got what I was meaning!

moondog · 25/08/2008 20:47

Mind you, God knowswhy I am laughing.
Dh is shit too.
Last Christmas had stinking black goatskin jacket from Tajikistan he brought home from working trip. Was about size 200 too.(I'm a 12)

My friend actually wet herself when i modelled it for her.

moondog · 25/08/2008 20:48

Size 20 rather.
Not wanting you to think Tajik folk are giants.
Obv.

mcfee · 25/08/2008 20:51

Makes all the difference then if its only a size 20, have you ever worn it anywhere? And when you say 'stinking' do you mean as in really horrible or really smelly?

moondog · 25/08/2008 20:55

You are joking!!
No,it actually stank. Eau de chevre.
When I asked him why he bought it he said it remndidhim of a jacket I had in uni.....20 years ago.

At least vibrator came in gift bag. Some smallcrumb of comfort surely???

One Xmas I got furry blue slippers "to keep my feet warm when I hang out the washing".

A nightdress with a matching headscarf !! WTF

Underwear - not in the lingerie category - but Barbie pack of 3 size 11-12 ( I am very small but still ?? ) from Woolies ....

We have now agreed I will write a little list to Santa and he can choose something from that to purchase ...

TBH it was more fun for me (and the kids) to let him loose and have a good hoot at his own efforts !! ( yes we are cruel )

mcfee · 25/08/2008 21:03

well at least your head will be dry while you're hanging out the washing... I trust they were blue to match the slippers?!?

Yes Mcfee - absolutely right !! Powder blue nightie and headscarf with large navy triangle "design" .

Even my grandmother (then 84) said had she worn such a thing in her youth my dad and subsequently the rest of the family tree would never have "grown".

mcfee · 25/08/2008 21:11

Jumping straight over to Amazon to discover what the hell this 'wish list' is.....

Good question Dittany !! I did ask - I mean honestly where on earth ??? He said a shop on his beat ( he was a police officer back then) .... but I am as certain as I can be that it must have been a freebie or a sample from one of the factories that was in the area that he covered , bound for goodness knows where.
He does love a bargain but obviously would never admit to being so tight that my Xmas gift was "procured" by these means !!

Nigeela · 25/08/2008 21:24

and all at the same time.
they realy should give lessons to teenage boys along with the wet dream ones.
