LOL at Hecates grandad!
I love Brans idea!
Dilemma, I am impressed/worried (not sure which!) that your Mum knows so much about your individual wardrobes....

My MIL treats me like a child, and is always questioning my decisions with my children. If she turns up on a sunny day she will always ask if the girls are wearing sunscreen - to which I usually reply "No, I am doing a little experiment to see how quickly they burn!" (They never go out without factor 40 on!)

It does sound like she is excited about the trip though, although I would be really to get that from my MIL, on the other hand if it was my mum I would laugh and ask her how old she thought I was!

AbbeyA · 25/08/2008 18:56

I'm with KerryMum on this-she treats you like that because you let her. I would sit her down for a polite, calm discussion and tell her to stop it!

LittleBella · 25/08/2008 19:08

LOL at the idea of having a polite, calm discussion with someone untrammeled by boundaries.

I'm 42 and my dear old dad still always asks me if I'm going to be warm enough and suggests I take a jumper when I go out. No matter what the weather.

I remember going out in a boob tube when I was 15 and him saying 'Are you going to be warm enough in that frock dear? Do you think you might want to put a vest on?'

Sometimes he says guineas instead of £'s too. And things like 'We're not agin it love'.

LOL

I'll be sad when they're not around to fuss over me anymore.

AbbeyA · 25/08/2008 21:41

I have more or less stopped my mother fussing. She explained that she would really like to wrap me up in cotton wool and keep me safe! I can see why, I feel like that with my DSs, but you do have to stand by and let them make their own mistakes.I have told her that I would rather do it the hard way!
She has given up telling me that I get colds because I won't wear a vest!

LittleBella · 25/08/2008 21:45

LOL I've started wearing vests now in the winter.

Thermals. From M&S.

Oh god.

We were planning on going camping for the first time with our DD (3.11) recently and my mum called and said "You will keep your eye on her and not let her run off..."

We ended up having quite a row and she slammed the phone down on me obviously thinking I was BU!!!

All sorted now and didn't go camping anyway as weather was pants but it did wind me up. I get a lot of "you know what you're like..." etc too.

I just point out to her that we've got his far with LO still here and in 1 piece so I can't be that dozy!
