'British team' would be wrong, there are three people from Northern Ireland in the team. Whereas I don't think we can call ourselves Team UK, cos the IOC say we're Great Britain/GB.

I was more surprised to find that the Northern Ireland competitors are part of Team GB. At least Northern Ireland is in the UK, but not GB (at least not the last time I looked at my passport).

I suppose it is snappier than "The queendom of millions of people who are all squished on to an island and who suffer rivalries between themselves as individual countries"
