Oh enid, sympathies indeed. I should let the TV be the only thing your DH gets to mount for some time.

We've just had to replace our ancient TV and the boy at Currys thought I was a daft old bat for refusing to countenance a vast monstrosity in my house. I think we bought a 23" flat screen. It's a bit plasticy-looking. I much prefer the fireplace to be focal point. Even in our 35ft or so drawing room a big TV would look crap. We're not a blardy sports bar. Fortunately DH agrees.

I would take one in the kitchen. Oh yes, if it needs a good home, send it over.

We have a HUGE wall mounted in the lounge and another coming soon, to replace old bedroom one.
God I love lying on my bed in the afternoon watching naff cookery programmes.

constancereader · 19/08/2008 14:42

lol, not taking the piss

am with you all the way, honest

I have a small tv which is not wall mounted.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 19/08/2008 14:43

malory - you could also amaze your friends with this delightful home bar. Did you note the retro wall-mounted phone? And you could jazz the whole bar area up with some strings of LCD lights. You'd never need to leave the house again.

TheFifthApe · 19/08/2008 14:46

oh dear lordy no

send it back (the tv and/or the dh)

moondog · 19/08/2008 14:46

Tvs in kitchens and bedrooms aredreadful. Those rooms are for reading, eating, shagging and sleeping. Nowt else.
(Constant powercuts here in Bangladesh do wonders for one'slove life.)

Flibbertyjibbet · 19/08/2008 14:49

So... we have 28" old tv standing on drawer unit in the little lounge. Thats me in the clear before I ask-

If wall mounted tvs are chavola, how chavtastic is

a) a huge telly wall mounted over a fireplace that doesn't have a fire in it.

b) an even bigger telly mounted over a working 'real flame' gas fireplace that, when I asked, was told that it is a SPECIAL HEAT PROOF TELLY for mounting over the fireplace.

I hate hate hate tellys mounted over the fireplace.

How about a Pat from EastEnders home bar? Now that is chavtastic

Heated · 19/08/2008 15:38

Hate the giant behemoth of a tv in the living room.

It needed repair within a yr, the company who repaired it went bust and, with no prompting, Phillips sent us a new one and then the receivers sent us the now repaired one back too so we now have 2 of the great blardy things!

PoorOldEnid · 20/08/2008 12:56

we have left the old bedroom one in the kitchen

the new one is very snazzy I must say so is in the bedroom - ooh it has built in freeview and a very good picture - we laid in bed like slobs watching tv slackjawed last night

he is taking the wall mounting kit back
