To be annoyed about this strike?

The dinner ladies at my daughter's school are striking this week, I found out via my neighbour reading on big signs outside the school advising parents they need to send their DC in with a packed lunch.
I can only assume it's over pay and/or conditions but really, the first week back at school?

Crikey your's go back early, we have another 2 and a half weeks to go yet.

They do in Scotland. They've had 7 and a half weeks off though and DD has been fed up and bored for the last 2!

anyone who strikes doesn't get paid, we got a letter home from school saying the council have decided that all schools should close because of the strike.

mugglewump - my dd only had 6 weeks off and thought the holidays were too short.

my 2 would love the day off, but our school is open even though the strike is on here, too

Basically in the public sector, middle management upwards is paid very well indeed. Those below tend to be paid very poorly. For example I earn less than half what my manager earns and there is no job in between the two.
