To be shocked and think 5 is far too young to own your own DS!

Maybe I'm just being old fashioned. But they cost so much money, and that's before you even get the games etc!

Purely from the money PoV, I was so surprised at how many of the 5 and 6 year old kids I was looking after had today had them.

From a being old-fashioned PoV it seemed so boring that they'd gone away to a different place and they were still playing computer games. I know teenagers do this all the time, but it seemed so unimaginative for five year olds to have to stick to the computer game rules all the time.

On the other hand I met some really sweet kids! I forgot how much energy little kids can have.

DS got his when he was two months short of his 7th birthday. He does tend to be obsessive with it so we do have to limit it. Today he has been on it for half hour. But he has also been swimming, to the supermarket, to soft play and ridden his bike. So quite a lot of exercise. He is probably more short of mental stimulation today. Will have to come up with something tomorrow.

On Saturday he will have to accompany me to his sister's dancing lesson (1 hr) so I will allow him to take his DS to that.

I agree about no TVs/computers in children's rooms.

Althoguh ds has pointed out our double standards as we bought a nice new flat screen TV (which is better than the one in the living room) for our newly decorated bedroom
