to resent having to ask for carrier bags now in Tesco?

Our local Tesco has stopped supplying carrier bags at the checkouts and you now have to ask for them. The problem is I can't help but ask for the bags in a really grumpy and pissed off way. Why should I have to ask for bags like I've committed a heinous crime by failing to bring my own. I understand the idea behind it and I do my bit by recycling all my carrier bags. Why don't Tesco do their bit by reducing plastic packaging instead? I know that truthfully I abu but for some reason it really really annoys me.

wow...all our bins are collected fortnightly...the black and brown bin in one week and then the green bin the week after

To give the NE pov for this one. We have one wheelie bin (emptied every week) one green bin for garden waste (emptied every fortnight) and a big plastic box for re-cycling - emptied every fortnight. Getting much better about re-cycling and keep glass/plastic/cans/paper in containers in the garage. If I remember they go out in the re-cycliing collection, otherwise we take them to the recyling centre. No one seems to want plastic milk cartons though. Have fantastic plastic drinks bottle squasher and can crushers from recycling.com where I bought the containers too.

we can put Milkbttles into our green bin...wiht the other plastic bottles....

We can put plastic milk bottles in our blue bins. What we can't put in are tetrapak type cartons. I beleive that one of the local recycing centres will take them - but we would have to make a point of taking them there and the petrol involved with probably more that negate the reycling value.

oh right...tetrapak ones...we never use those...so, wouldn't know!

I really resent paying 5p in M&S for a rubbish carrier bag which is ripped before you even get out the shop. I try to use reusable bags but forget them more often than not. Just got a footprint bag (www.footprintbag.com) which is one pack with lots of bags. Really neat! Think this might solve my habit of forgetting bags as it fits in my handbag!!
