To be put off by a nursery because most of the staff are obese?

I've just visited a nursery where most of the staff are obese and something inside was questioning how active they are able to be with the children (plus they seemed to be sitting around while the children entertained themselves). I feel guilty for how I felt but am I right to be concerned?

I would be more interested in how they were interacting with the children.

I worked at a pre-school where none of the staff would have won any prizes for slimming (self included) but they talked to the children and played with them all the time. On the other hand some of the 18 year old stick insects at the day care nursery where I have also worked certainly did not have many intelligent conversations with the children though they were very kind.

Can I just say that childcare isn't just about physical activity though is it?? Its about patience, kindness, understanding and giving children your time too. You should judge a childcare option by the happiness and general atmosphere of the environment, not the carer's waistline.

We seem to make the same point struwellpeter!
