How old should children be before reasonable to teach poker

just wondered cos wandered through house to make a cuppa and 17 yr old teaching ds 11 dd 8 and ds5. Also dog running around with baby annabelle dress on.ho hum ....

If they are learning poker, make sure they learn the most important thing - the answer to the question "can you play poker?" is always, "no, but it sounds fun..."

Count me in as a newmarket with GM here. Although, to be fair, it was a rubbish game once you got a bit older.

I dunno, my uncle always used to wait till we were engrossed (not in poker) and ask what was in our hand! Get them at the right moment and they will answer.

While I was at uni there was some talk of card games being used by therapists to help improve the academic performance of dyslexic kids. likethis. Can't do any harm, as long as they're not playing for money.

thanks to this thread (and a quick google for the rules) I taught the girls to play newmarket today. it was good fun. dd2 wiped the floor with us
