To think that perhaps this woman shouldn't be shouting at toddlers every day?

Have been spending a lot of time in the garden recently and the house that backs onto mine is owned by a relatively new couple who moved in about 6 months ago.

I've felt really sorry for her a few times as it's obvious she's having a really hard time with her toddlers - lots of shouting at the top of her voice about how she has "had it up to here" and "don't you dare throw that on the floor".

Sometimes it's sounded a bit OTT but I know that some people just shout a lot, and as I've learned from MN you don't know what kind of stress people are under etc etc.

Anyhoo - I just found out today from my friend that this woman is actually a childminder. She doesn't have any kids of her own so the toddlers I've heard her screaming at on a regular basis are those that she is being paid to look after.

This is a bit off, isn't it? Genuinely wondered what others thought, it certainly happens on a daily basis.

You definitely need to report her to Ofsted.
Perhaps you should post on the childminders section for more advice/suggstions. MN has lost of lovely professional CMs who would be horrifed to hear about this.

I think this is terrible. I work with children (not as a childminder) and it is definitely a no-no.
I think it is a very good idea to ask other childminders how you should go about voicing your concerns.

It's abuse of her position, the kids are probably terrified and distressed, and they'll be scared for ever. You need to tell someone sharpish.

I worked as a nanny for many years and find having my own children a lot harder. If she is acting like this with the children she is paid to look after then God help her own when she has them.

Right up until the point you said she was a childminder I was thinking that it sounded like a mum at the end of her tether. Now I think it should be reported as people like that should not be allowed to look after children at all.

Can you imagine as a parent finding out that some person who you are paying to care for your child is calling them a c**t?

agree report.

The parents of these children would probably be horrified to know what you've told us. They will be spending precious money on what they assume is good childcare, only to have their children emotionally abused.

There's no way I could ignore it if I were you.

ooh scary!!!! as a parent and a carer of other people's children i find i have more patience for other's kids than my own..imagine what her kids would suffer???
would you want your kids being shouted at like that day in day out???
maybe you should enquire with local council as to her child minding credentials and have a little say.......i emphasise maybe, your choice.
