even though dd is 2 and won't need it for all that long. But I WAANNNNNTTT IT!!!!!! here. Her current buggy is on its last legs.

I am not having anymore kids and always wanted one like this. I could always sell it on EBay afterwards. DH says unnecessary but as he won't hardly ever be pushing it about then I think I should be the one to choose. I know I am being a big baby but I want it.........right now!

SheBangsTheDrums · 30/07/2008 13:48

I could have wrote the OP, a shop local to here has had a Bugaboo Bee in for 2 weeks now at £185!! It's brand new but the height adjuster on the handle is broke.
I've been in 6 times to see it whilst clutching my credit card and just about managed to walk away each time! I don't need it, I've a perfectly good, new buggy but.....what a bargin!!

unaccomplishedfattylegalmummy · 30/07/2008 14:58

Ah get it it's gorgeous. My dd1 was in and out of her pram(s) until she was 4. I've got 3 for dd2, did have 4 but sold one on ebay. I do love my prams.

elmoandella · 30/07/2008 15:03

i've got the orange version. absolutely fantastic. i've got the lifetime warranty as well now!!!

why not get one 2nd hand off ebay. mind you, they're making good money. you would be aswell using it and selling it for a good price if you keep it in good nick.

berolina · 30/07/2008 15:04

We got almost 2 years' heavy use (think cobbled streets, several mles a day etc.) out of that Chicco one. It only went because somebody bashed into it with our heavy period apartment building door and broke the axle .

TotalChaos · 30/07/2008 15:08

surely you can get a suitable McLaren quite a bit cheaper than £185?

rebelmum1 · 30/07/2008 15:09

Bonkers, can't you think of a better way to spend £200 quid? You must have money to burn.

jeez!!

rebelmum1 · 30/07/2008 15:15

I can't believe people buy this awful stuff at these prices.

Treeny · 30/07/2008 15:25

I saw the pink version of this buggy on the bus yesterday and thought it was v nice! And Maclaren Techno seems a good choice to me - I've had one for each of my DDs and they're great - really good size for public transport etc as well as general marching around.

I'd buy it. It's all very well people saying that you should get your two-yr-old walking, but if you do a lot of walking it's unrealistic to expect a toddler to walk everywhere you do. I didn't have a car when DD1 was little and we did loads of walking - she would often be on foot, but she still needed the buggy for longer trips until she was about 3.5.

nappyaddict · 31/07/2008 02:18

faux fur???? yuck!

fledtoscotland · 31/07/2008 09:24

if you want it and can afford it, get it!

emmared1980 · 31/07/2008 21:25

Do it!!!!

lucyellensmum · 31/07/2008 21:44

i was going to post YANBU but then i took a look at what you wanted to buy. My honest opinion is, go for one that is not suitable from birth, you are paying loads extra for that. There are some great maclarens and i know what you mean, i HAD to have one too, even though we didn't technically need it. We paid £100 for it and its great. What i will say is this, I used it all the time for about a year, then DD decided she wanted her bugaboo back despite the fact i thought we had used it for the very last time - it is sooooo much nicer to push, the maclaren is hard work actually.

Just seen that you walk everywhere, so do i - i would honestly shop around. If you have that as a budget then you should be able to get something niceer to push and sit in.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 31/07/2008 22:15

Sorry but I really don't like maclarens at all. No matter how much faffy paddding they put on the seats they are bone shakers as they have no air in the tyres, they haved the worst brakes in the world, and they are horrid to push with a heavy child in or empty whilst holding onto a toddler. You can't steer them with one hand, not properly.

Mothercare is premium price, too.

I got a great second hand micralite on ebay for my toddler and it's still going strong, for less than half the price of that maclaren.

KatieDD · 31/07/2008 22:55

I have to say I've been sitting on my hands trying not to buy that one for my 4 year old so I know where your coming from. I would say you'd get at least another 12 months esu out of it so wouldn't hesitate in your shoes

jennieflower · 31/07/2008 23:06

Wow that's a pretty buggy! Buy it now and save yourself the agony lusting of over it.

This is coming from the woman who just spent over £800 on a gorgeous bugaboo with every available accessory when she has 3 perfectly good prams and buggies in the loft. I actually told OH I'd sold them ages ago in order to get him to agree!

There's 2 types of people on this thread, those who have an almost irrational love of buggies like me and those who don't really get it.

stitch · 31/07/2008 23:08

i clicked on the link expecting to be completely wowed.
disappointed was the only adequate description. there is nothing particularly special about that buggy. nothing worth almost two hundred pounds. boring and mundane.

YumeeMumee · 31/07/2008 23:15

I totally understand your dilemna too I'm thinking about getting another buggy for DS but am trying to find the right moment to broach the subject with DH!

I'm thinking about the Maclaran Quest Sport or Petite Star Zia...as they're lightweight. Am making a point to walk everywhere at the mo [taking advantage of the nice weather while it lasts] but our current Chicco is hard to push any distance - its heavy and you can't push with one hand. It was a cheapie and has done a good job as we've really abused it but I'm dying to get a new one!

I don't know how I've managed to resist!

Get it if you can afford it...I've heard that Maclarans hold their value and last.

bluenosesaint · 31/07/2008 23:23

Get it, get it, get it!

I love maclarens and disagree with those who say they're bone shakers or horrid to push - i have a techno (have had it about 4yrs and is now in use with dd3) and its great!

The wheels are still good and it pushes a treat

I'm not keen on the colourway you've chosen (mine is 'storm' which is a boring grey but brightened up with a buggysnuggle) but each to their own.

I don't remember paying anywhere near that much for it though ...

wornoutwaitress · 01/08/2008 09:23

you are paying extra to have it from birth but if your lo still sleeps in the daytime then it is a must imo.

Shesellsseashells · 01/08/2008 10:56

Well I am going to get it and then will pass it onto a family member. We probably cover about 4 miles a day, often more as we don't have a car so I think it is worthwhile. Thanks for all your opinions.

Shesellsseashells Did you get it....did you get it??!!

I got the go ahead from DH to get another stroller so am trying to decide on the Mac Quest Sport or a Petite Star Zia!!

Are we very sad to get this excited over a new pushchair?!
