I don't know - £16,000 is not that much - I earn just over £20,000 and I would be struggling on my own.

Sometimes supporting just yourself is harder than if you are a couple or if you live with other people.

Depends where she is. If she's in London, no. Also there may be other factors that you don't know about.

net pay on £16k = £1000 per month ish
rental on 1bed flat near me = £900 per month ish
council tax = £100 per month

that's nothing left for food!

Take home pay on £16000 is only just over £1000. It's not a lot, depending on where she's living. Pretty much impossible in London.

she needs to get out of her one bed flat and do a flat share to cut costs. Moving back and (effectviely) being dependent on parents again is IMHO a very very last resort.

If income is £1K and she spending £900 on her rental then she should have thought about going into a flat/house share or bedsit first.

You can get a perfectly nice 2 bed house for 525 a month here in Leicestershire.
