I hate it. I can never find a two-seat trolley for my two under-threes, so it's a huge faff - do I leave them in the car and trek to the other side of the car park to find one or do I manhandle them both across the car park and then rummage for the pound coin? And when I've finished shopping, trying to find a free "chain" to attach the trolley to, to release the quid - am I supposed to leave the kids in the car as I trek round the carpark for this, or wheel them around screaming after waiting in the queue for ages, ice cream melting in the boot of the car? Today I just dumped the trolley and ran, leaving the money in...

ARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH***

I'm going back to Waitrose. No more bloody austerity measures if it's going to send my blood pressure rocketing this much.

i only go to morrisons with my mum, the "fresh produce section" does my head in. i do like the prices of none consumables though, and quality street.the cashiers can chat for england.
i like tesco, sainsburys and m +s. waitrose is so expensive, except for curly wurlys.

SaintGeorge · 30/07/2008 01:13

I have loads of those trolley token things (Betterware ones, I used to be a rep).

If anyone wants a freebie drop me an email.

Yes boycott Morrisons and write to them and let them know why you refuse to shop there.

I have my shopping all sorted now....i do the big weekly shop online from tesco's and anything else that i may need during the week i get from Waitrose. I love Waitrose....no queue's, very helpful staff and their food is lovely. Their Madeira cake is the best shop bought Madeira i have ever had. Also, I once bought baby formula that didnt have a safety seal, so i went back to get it exchanged. They replaced the milk and gave me the equivalent in cash for my trouble!! Thats gotta be worth it.

SilentTerror · 30/07/2008 06:18

I hate our local Morrisons too.Tiny aisles, ridiculous car park, rude staff.
Tesco here much better, staff always helpful.
I never go in Aldi for very much because of trolley £ issue.

ProfYaffle · 30/07/2008 06:56

I want to like Morrisons as we share a northern heritage, I don't mind the pound coin in the trolly but the tiny isles drive me fecking insane! And as if they're not small enough, they stick those sodding baskets all over the shop, makes me rage.

otoh, I can get parkin and mushy peas in there. Plus I like the cafe, though not sure why as the food is shit

OrmIrian · 30/07/2008 07:16

Our Morrisons has huuuge aisles. But it used to be Safeway. It's a very nice shop TBH. Just don't go there often because it's the wrong sort of direction to be convenient. Sometimes on the way back from my Sunday morning run I use the toilets and then go and buy a bag of spuds or some brocolli to ease my conscience. I know some of the staff from when I used to go on the way to my CMs - and they still say hello.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 30/07/2008 08:11

My local Morrisons is nice and I've just started shopping there and finding it loads cheaper than Waitrose or Tesco. Yes the £1 coin for the trolley is a faff but I've got used to remembering it now. If you only have a £5note then customer services will give you change. The store's just been upgraded and has nice, wide aisles.

Heard some woman in there the other week asking her dh where he thought the juniper berries were. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think it sells juniper berries! Ain't that sort of store.

Milkysallgone · 30/07/2008 08:24

I detest my local Morrisons, but not because of the coin in trolley thing (shop at Asda).

The staff are quite often rude, I find the people that shop there tend to be of the small - town, narrow minded variety (probably more to do with the area it's in though), the car park is a nightmare, but more than all of that THERE ARE NO FECKING BRAKES ON THE STUPID TROLLEYS! So when unloading my shopping, especially on windy days, it seems impossible to stop it from rolling away without 'propping' it against your car in some strange fashion.

Have always found attendants in Asda car park more than happy to release a trolly for me if I have no coin.

OldGregg · 30/07/2008 08:28

I don't like Morrisons either but it does have a cash point and huge amounts of parking so sometimes I do go in. Nearly all the food seems to be processed with extra added fat and/or sugar. The cafe makes the whole place smell like a fat fryer. The 'fresh' section isn't. The cashiers all spend hours talking to customers they know and moaning to the ones they don't.

I use Ocado home delivery and Waitrose for emergency supplies. And Lidl. Lidl is great. And they have lovely, helpful staff.

OrmIrian · 30/07/2008 08:30

"And they have lovely, helpful staff"

Ours doesn't. The staff seems very nice on the odd occasion you see them....but they are so rare I'm fairly sure they are a protected species. That's one of the things I don't like about Lidl.

Lemontart · 30/07/2008 08:36

Our local Morrisons has a lovely car park and that is the only lovely feature! You walk in to be greeted by the fish counter next to the cut flowers and foil balloons. Combined with the waft of cooking chips and sausages, I usually wonder why I didn?t drive that little bit further to Asda/Tesco/Sainsburys. Interstingly, both Asda and Tesco have horrid carparks that are badly laid out and not child friendly BUT their shops make up for it in price, range and well stocked.

OldGregg · 30/07/2008 08:44

orm - our Lidl is mostly staffed by European migrants, they are all quite young, very smiley and adore the children. So it feels like I'm on holiday in Portugal or Italy everytime I go in! (Unlike Morrisons, which is akin to reading a red top newspaper on a vandalised bench in the rain with a miserable git tutting at your DCs).

moyasmum · 30/07/2008 08:48

i really like morrisons.
ive visited a few stores and never had a bad experience. Some members of staff have "personality" , in a good way, whereas the ones in Tescos are generally horrid, and ill informed. Ive had a few problems whilest in M and they have always helped (felt very unwell, locked my keys in the car and had to use their phone to call direct line, car had a fuel problem and kept braking down around M ,could always find someone to help me push etc).

Juniper berries are in the spice area and have been for as long as ive been shopping there. falafel is in the cold vegitarian section opp the milk. supermarket queen me!
If i want a special ingredient i try morrisons,or the town market, its a waste of time going to Tescos (unless you want ready meals or pop).Asda is like tescos but with nicer people.

sockmonkey · 30/07/2008 08:54

At our local morrisons you need a pound to park and a pound for the trolly. It's just too much of a faff. Plus the ailes are in no particular order. They do have nice serve yourself salad, and do american style bacon.
DH refuses to go though cos he almost got a job there, only for it to be given to someone as an internal promotion.

nappyaddict · 30/07/2008 23:52

i know someone who had sex in morrisons where they make the do-nuts. i know longer buy bread or cakes from morrisons

OldGregg · 31/07/2008 01:06

Please tell me that's not how they put the jam in?
