I can put up with piercings and tattoos(hasn't had them done yet, but they are on the cards) heavy metal music, wearing black all the time, just take it in my stride.
but today he has taken it too far and I am shocked and worried. he told me today that he likes coldplay
At the moment it is only a couple of their songs.
but AIBU it be scared that this is the start of a terrible time. will he now become a fan?
will he start liking Kylie.

My ds also has admitted to liking Coldplay, I tried to convince him other people might mock him. He says all his friends like them - he is 16 too. Maybe it is rebellion of some sort. He doesn't like Mika though.Yet.

quick - try and convert him to radiohead and let him hear how much better it is

electricbarbarella · 22/07/2008 17:33

OMG how has this happened, i think you should kick him out this instant. OMG sorry i know I already said that but that is so very very wrong on so many levels. i think as a parent your love should be virtually unconditional but that is a step too far.

GrapefruitMoon · 22/07/2008 17:35

he has brought shame on your family - throw him out!

HumphreySmallPillow · 22/07/2008 17:38

I'm so sorry, 2shoes.
I'm sure there must be a helpline for this sort of thing.
Or maybe search addictedtoblandmusic dot com, for support.
Find help now, before he moves on to James Blunt.

Eek, how awful!
No matter how carefully you indoctrinate them with good music sense, they'll turn and bite the hand that feeds them.
I'll just enjoy the present (small voices from the back seat saying "Daddy, please may we have Iron Maiden?" and save worrying about the future for later .

2shoes · 22/07/2008 21:37

he likes Iron maiden as well.
this is why the coldplay was a shock

put him on a macrobiotic diet. That'll cure him.

toodlepips · 22/07/2008 21:41

no no no, macrobiotic is what happened to gwynneth when she heard to much cold play... it's simply too dangerous

you must take him to a real rock concert immediately.

Grrlscout · 23/07/2008 07:42

Has his hearing been checked?

Blame it on the girlfriend

oh 2shoes. I am really sorry
Is this the same one that admitted that Behind BLue Eyes is done best by The Who? Because I really thought there was hope for him...
