He had been taking driving lessons. Test date changed because he isn't ready.
Now i find out that he drives about locally in the evenings occasionally.

What a stupid idiot! I can't believe he would be so stupid.

He thinks he is such a good driver already and obviously above the law.

I really want to report him and get him off the road before something bad happens to someone. But how do i do it? I don't know his address or any car details.

Could you discuss this with your Dad & ask him to report your brother?

Might be a good idea of the Police just went round & had a little chat with him.

He lives abroad with Mum. It is down to me to do something i think.
Will contact Mum tomorrow and see what she knows.

if he's def initely uninsured then yes rpt him tho I would tell him first I was doing this. . .. if he's insured, then I wouldn't rpt him

egypt · 21/07/2008 02:24

which country?

ll31 · 21/07/2008 02:28

in ireland he wouldn't be uninsured by just driving unaccompanied. . . but do not know re other countries . . . again tho its kind of stupid thing to do - - even if insured he's leaving himself open to problems with police etc - - -

egypt · 21/07/2008 02:29

you said your mum lived abroad but she couldn't do anything because she lived abroad. but she lives in the same country with him, so she could.

No brother in UK near me.
I don't know if he is insured.

oh sorry, your DAD lives abroad with your mum.

didn't read properly.

Think you should report without telling him. Find out his address, would you know the house if you drove by? do you have his phone number? you can get his address from that if it is a land line

In Ireland they have just changed the law to prevent this happening. Until recently you were insured if you were driving on a provisional licence unaccompanied after your second year of holding the licence iyswim. It was ridiculous, it was the only country in the world where you could fail a test and drive off afterwards. They have recently changed the law and now anyone without a full licence, driving unaccompanied will be fined 1000 euros on the spot. I know LOADS of people who have stopped driving and are waiting for their test.

ll31 · 21/07/2008 20:00

U still are insured in ireland if driving unaccompanied. Dont think its definite fine on the spot - its up to Garda as to whether to summons or not. Have to say I know loads of people who've just taken l plates off and are still driving!

LIZS · 21/07/2008 20:03

if you give his full name and some rough details they can trace the address and car via dvla. He's an idiot and his complacency could cost him and others dear

expatinscotland · 21/07/2008 20:04

he won't be insured in the UK if he is on a provisional license and driving without lawful supervision.

don't you people watch 'traffic cops'?

they pull one of those over on nearly every show.

they confiscate the car then and there, too.
