all except fucking princessy-my-mum-helps-on-every-school-trip-girl who wore her wellies

They were told to wear comfortable shoes so DD wore her trainers.

It was so boggy that they BOTH came off at one point and somebody had to fish them out FFS

DD was bloody miserable when I picked her up, as were most of hte class! Now have trainers and shitty trousers in the washer! Her ankles are red raw after walking around in wet shoes & socks too

Fucking knobheads

Is this still going on?
I would never send my children on a farm trip without wellies, I don't really know what more there is to say

MamaG · 16/07/2008 23:39

I did cow pat stumping on a school trip to the country when i was a lass, thoroughly enjoyed myself, the best one were the ones that had a crust on them but still squashy in the middle.

I lived in a big city so cow pats were a new and exciting phenomenon to a girl like me

I digress....

NorthernLurker · 16/07/2008 23:48

Never mind the wellies - what did they feed them at the farm? Fruit shoot anyone?

HumphreyCushioni · 16/07/2008 23:48

Paddock visit?

HumphreyCushioni · 16/07/2008 23:49

Meadow sojourn perhaps?

Was it just a walk then-a local study?

I can sympathise with Mums who suffer from OCD, but really it is very important that you don't pass it on to your children. They will no doubt have their own anxieties in life, they don't want yours too. I was an adult before I found out that my Mum has bird phobia. She bravely kept it to herself and not one of her 4 children ever knew there was anything scary about birds, so we grew up without fear. It is a great gift.

If you complain at the school for letting your dd get dirty, and expect them to work on the assumption that a dirty child=an distressed child, then you are teaching your dd that she should be distressed by encounters with the great outdoors. This is closing a lot of opportunities for her.

If you comfort her with a light laugh and reassure her that nothing dreadful has happened, you are teaching her to cope. The way we go Ooops-a-daisy! instead of Oh are you all right, darling? at a toddler who falls over his own feet.

MamaG · 19/07/2008 20:08

I don't have OCD - I'm very much in the camp of "a bit of muck does 'em good, shows they've had a good day" etc

I was just in a really snippy mood teh day i posted this thread!

Wasn't referring to you, Mama, but to the other poster who said she did. Anyway, glad to hear that you seem to be feeling better today

Collision · 19/07/2008 20:16

MamaG · 19/07/2008 20:17

According to the new Persil ad all kids have the right to get dirty!
Pah.
Cover their eyes and ears when that comes on!
