AIBU - To pause kids swimming lessons in cold weather?

Do you keep sending kids for swimming lessons in cold weather or take a break for a few months? Theses are not school lessons, but paid. We walk DS, 6yrs old to a local pool on Saturday mornings.

I don't think it's unreasonable to pause in winter if you have to walk. It is such a faff drying long hair etc. We drive so go all year round but also hate going in winter months.
If it makes your life easier, do it.

How long is the walk? We have a 15 minute walk home from our local pool and do lessons all year round.

DC don't shower at the pool though, they're straight out, into fluffy onesies, walk home and then I immediately run a warm bath. Then into pyjamas for dinner and homework. The walk home is a bit chilly with wet hair but it's not long, and they're absolutely fine after a warm bath at home.

Fml no wonder we're raising a generation of snowflakes.

When i was a kid i suffered earache a lot and the doctor advised against winter swimming. So tgst is a circumstance i would pause classes.

Which is frankly mad advice from a doctor because ear infections are caused by bacterial infections (or on occasion viral infections) and not by being cold on the walk home from the swim.

It's the swimming pool itself regardless of season.

There isn’t enough info in your OP to understand what winter has to do with swimming. If you’re in an outdoor, unheated pool then probably. Otherwise, I don’t understand what cold weather has to do with it.

PepsiBook · Today 11:14

Why would you consider that? Unless it's outdoors swimming?
Learning to swim could literally save their life, it should be learnt as soon as possible.

This is winter in England, not Siberia. Just make sure they're well-dried, and if you're walking home, wrap up well, with heads covered.

IStillHearTheWaves · Today 11:40

Err no. Don't know anyone who does this.

Thet will not build enough stamina to become competent swimmers if you stop their lessons for 4 months of the year.

The pool and leisure centre was somewhere we actually used to go more in winter as it was warmer than our house!

Sally2791 · Today 11:44

Keep going! Assuming heated indoor pool. Great winter activity

Dobedobedobedo · Today 11:45

Swimming is a good indoor activity for colder weather so no, I would be more likely to pause in the summer to get outdoors instead
