Has anyone else noticed this? I normally have major resting bitch face and have been told by various people I have a very serious and dont talk to me look.
Despite my attempts to ease my face and give off im friendly vibes most people dont come near me. ( I have honestly thought about a she's friendly badge to put on lol)

Over the past week things have changed. People now ask me questions and even try and have small talk ( today at bus stop) Just a general friendly vibe I get from people all over.

I have made one change

People are trying to talk to you while you are reading a book AND have headphones on? How utterly weird.

So more people talk to you when you have headphones on?

Interesting thread op! Over the years I’ve had multiple similar experiences. It’s really peculiar, but the older I get the more I realise that people are fucking insane.

Yes that sounds familiar (and bloody annoying). I wear headphones all the time even if I am not listening to to anything because I naively believed that people would leave me alone but apparently not.

Despite not making eye contact and very obviously being stuck in my phone or kindle, people still think it’s okay to try to engage me in conversation!

Oh I have just realised that you feel that’s a GOOD thing. In that case the more intently you refuse eye contact etc, the more people will speak to you.,. 😬

I think everyone should wear a badge to indicate their level of openness to social interaction - much easier all round 🤣

I like that idea a lot! A few years ago, the Clinique counter at one of my local department stores was actually handing out cards to shoppers which had a choice of 2 phrases - something very roughly translated as 'Just browsing - leave me alone' or 'I'm interested in hearing more about the products'.
