To ask how the hell I get rid of a crick in my neck?

I slept funny last week and had a horrible crick in my neck. Over the last week it’s spread and my neck and back are now so horribly tight. I’ve tried hot showers, hot baths, a neck massager, everything I can think of and it won’t budge.

Half a bottle of wine and a couple of ibuprofen.

Thank me later.

Try Deep Heat or Tiger Balm

Cancel the massage and see an osteopath. They have 5+yrs of training and actually help treat it, not just rub you with stones! Some osteopathy schools offer good discounts for certain professions/benefits too.

Its called a torticollis. Ideally you need some benzodizepine (valium) which helps loosen and relax the muscles, but I doubt a GP would prescribe these nowadays.

I’ve booked myself a hot stone massage instead, the GP won’t see me for a crick in my neck!

Argh don’t waste your money on this woo woo. You need proper violent acupressure (not osteo, they are quacks) or a violent physio, a hot stone is just a warm rock.

Ive got a massage pillow that tilts your neck back at 20°, the tilt releases pressure, I'm finding it difficult to explain but basically if your neck aches due to looking down at your phone, sat in front of a computer etc it stretches your neck back out.

Anyhoo, a week of using it and I'm pain free.

You could try rolling up a pillow or use a padded draught excluder if you have one, lay on the floor, put it behind your neck and tilt your head back, stay there for 10 mins, stop if it hurts though.

If you try it, be careful when you stand up, I feel a bit lightheaded if I get up too fast.

Worth a try
